Back in 2019, Google added a favicon to mobile search results, but a year later the desktop attempt came to nothing. However, according to 9to5Google, the tech giant has now launched yet another test of mobile search tweaks -- aimed at showing "plus-sized" favicons and more prominent site names in results pages.

As shown in the picture, compared to the old style, Google's newly tested mobile search results page can display larger than before in the upper left corner of each card, and displays the main site domain name on the right.

Detailed paths remain, but only appear in secondary locations below. Also when a site has multiple grouped results, another page will show only one path.

Meanwhile, 9to5Google found similar improvements in Google Discover on Android.

Although it doesn't show the circle, it replaces the favicon and name that previously appeared at the bottom of the card with a large cover image and title.

Obviously, this change in Google Mobile Search is also quite friendly to Android users when the screen specifications of mobile devices are increasing day by day.

The company has been testing various new features over the past few weeks, with "Incognito queries" receiving quite a lot of attention (not yet fully rolled out).

In fact, in 2020, Google tried to bring favicons to the desktop as well, claiming that favicons help people get to the source of information faster.

However, this design ultimately failed to be widely welcomed by mobile device users, and was smashed by netizens who complained that "every search result looks like an advertisement".
